Carillion | Case Study

Customer

Requirement Carillion identified that a time & attendance system deployed across their numerous project sites could be used to improve the management of their labour resource and provide them with better management information on the allocation and use of labour.

Solution

They chose to implement an Aurora Facial Recognition system because it was proven in dealing with the harsh construction environment in the Middle East. The Clockface devices are IP65 and designed to deal with extreme temperatures, dust and humidity. Each site had its own redundant database which was connected to a central HR database which managed all of the operatives’ details.

Customer Testimonial

“The system was installed in 2008 and we have benefited from improvements in our management and control of our labour resources. The system allowed us to take control of our labour spend, reduce the man powered required to manage a growing workforce and understand where the different skills and trades are allocated. We used the system to develop new policies and working practices to deliver the business improvement below;

  • Reduction in timekeepers of 2/3 · Reduction and better control of absence on sites.
  • Better visibility of overtime hours worked on a daily basis.
  • Better visibility of labour and knowledge of skills and current allocation of trades.
  • Better visibility of labour working on a Friday.
  • Reduction in payroll queries.
  • Removal of buddy punching and payroll fraud.
  • Better monitoring of time sheets being completed and in time for payroll cut off.

The system has been integrated with Oracle payroll and allows us to complete payments on time in line with the WPS requirements. Clarati has also been on hand to support and advise on different aspects of the system as it has evolved.”.
